Made only from selected aircraft quality nickel alloy steel, heat treated to Rockwell 48, assures long spline life and maximum resistance to wash out of the cutting structure.

The cutting structures of the Thompson DTH hammer bits are designed with the use of computer aided design software; guaranteeing optimum placement of carbides to control insert wear and head wash.
Bits are machined to exact tolerances and are subject to a rigid battery of quality control inspections.
Bits are shot peened on both inside and outside to stress relief and further harden these surceases significantly increasing durability.

Depending on the bit application, the carbides used will range in hardness from Ra 90.0 to 91.1 assuring a better match to the drilling conditions. Carbides are fitted into precision machined holes designed to control the press fit tolerances and to allow for maximum insert retention while minimizing the stresses on the bit head.
